VAMPS was formed by HYDE (vocalist/L'Arc~en~Ciel) and K.A.Z (guitarist/Oblivion Dust) in early spring 2008. Although, HYDE and K.A.Z have actually been working together since 2003. For HYDE's 3rd solo album, "FAITH," K.A.Z co-produced all the songs on the album and wrote five songs off the album, including the hit single, "SEASON'S CALL." In the Summer of 2006, K.A.Z joined HYDE as the lead guitarist for his 2006 "FAITH Tour," which included dates in the United States. By 2009, VAMPS completed their first U.S. tour with much success, which included shows on both the east coast and west coast.
The year 2010 was the year of VAMPS, as they released their highly-anticipated second album, "BEAST" and embarked on their first world tour, which included shows in the United States, Chile, China, Spain, and France. They united fans of different races and cultures, thus defining what it means for music to transcend the language barrier.
To date, VAMPS have released numerous top-ten hits, and three albums, including their first-ever international release: "SEX, BLOOD, ROCK 'N ROLL." You can find their music on iTunes stores all across the world.
Although, despite their success both at home in Japan and abroad, both HYDE and K.A.Z agree there is much still to be done and so, their exciting and interesting musical journey continues. As HYDE so eloquently puts it in VAMPS' recent release, "AHEAD,": "Everything I'm craving, all the things I want to do and I don't know what to do - I'm not done yet." We certainly hope VAMPS aren't done, not any time soon anyway. ;)
